OUR APPROACH

About Crypto Baltics

Crypto Baltics aims to bring together the initiatives connected to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in one accessible directory.

What this website is for.

Crypto Baltics is a directory of the cryptocurrency ecosystem in the Baltic countries. Its purpose is to help people discover local communities, companies, independent projects, meetups, conferences and merchants accepting cryptocurrency payments.

We bring together initiatives related to Bitcoin, other cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, privacy tools and payment services. You can find out what each initiative does, where it is based, how to get in touch and where to meet the people behind it.

The directory aims to reflect the breadth of activity across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. It grows through research and contributions from the people involved. It is not yet exhaustive: if an initiative or event is missing, you can suggest it for inclusion.

Our approach and point of view.

Crypto Baltics is one of the websites of Cypher Baltics, alongside Bitcoin Baltics and Lithuania BTC. Our roots are in the Bitcoin community. We see Bitcoin as a tool for individual sovereignty, autonomy and greater control over money.

We also want people to be able to discover and understand other initiatives in the region. Bringing them together does not mean treating every project as equivalent. We describe what they do, link to their sources and distinguish their purposes, dependencies and limitations.

Privacy belongs in that conversation.

That interest in autonomy also makes privacy-focused projects, including Monero, worth examining. Recognising their purpose does not remove the need to examine their limitations, dependencies, maturity and actual use.

We do not treat the existence of a token, a technical feature or a community as proof that a project is useful, safe or necessary.

A token is not a break with traditional finance.

In our view, much of the crypto industry is an extension or modernisation of conventional finance. New settlement tools, tokenised assets or financial applications can change how a service works while preserving its intermediaries, control structures and incentives.

This is different from the monetary independence that draws us to Bitcoin. We are sceptical of claims of disruption that do not explain who controls the system, who holds the funds and what users must trust. Fraudulent schemes deserve scrutiny; accusations against a specific project require evidence.

Institutional involvement alone does not describe a protocol’s design. Nor does regulation make every project equivalent or guarantee its safety. We look at the actual system and service rather than relying on labels.

An entry is documentation, not endorsement.

The directory includes projects and communities we may disagree with. It describes their activity, location and public links. Inclusion does not imply partnership, approval of a token or a recommendation to invest.

These editorial views explain our approach at Cypher Baltics. They are not attributed to every community or business listed here. Bitcoin Baltics and Lithuania BTC retain their own community focus.

How the directory is maintained.

  • A demonstrable connection to Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania.
  • A public source for the initiative, event or business.
  • A short factual description, a category and a review date.
  • Historical activity and unresolved information clearly distinguished from current listings.
  • Payment methods checked separately. BTC Map establishes a Bitcoin listing, not acceptance of other assets.

Corrections and suggestions are welcome. Submissions are reviewed; they are not published automatically. You do not have to share our views to contribute accurate local information.
